Adding a readme for the Bugfix mod patches. Right now I'm assuming we're simply going to release them in archives, with & have people drop the appropriate patch in their "resources" folder, rather than providing an installer. If that's not correct, please let me know.

    I'd like to release it soon, at least to the nightlies so it can be tested more thoroughly. Shaella is currently testing it, and so far she has verifed that Maldric's fix works.

    We had portraits for the Garg guards and didn't realize it, so they never made it into game. I'm assuming they can be like the Britannian guards who share the same portrait, except in this case there are two portraits, which works since they are in pairs.

    Fix for Aaron to avoid journal spoiler, fix for Troy with chess, fix for Taliesin to make sure you know his name first, added Despise maps 1 & 2 to containers (so it does work with new games - will have testers verifying for saved game tomorrow but have in as proof of concept), fixed Codex endgame usecode, and added back in missing runic entry that somehow was not ported in when we did conversion. All tested. Will test for containers with 2 types of saved games tomorrow. If you have a save that is before Despise, you can test it (but shouldn't work if you've opened the certain chest tho).

    had incorrect check for avatar mage/druids mana on leveling up. was checking for class_mage and class_druid, but it should just be mage and druid respectively.

    i personally tested mage, druid and paladin (paladin is the "not mage or druid" case) to make sure that mana is increasing correctly now. i am confident in my fix, and it was independently verified by a play-tester.

    Alright - plan B - can't use the magic block since it will cause issues with placed items with (owned) on their label. So, hopefully this works for those with performance issues with magic shields.

    Committing the first of two possible improvements for magic shields. WE_ENTERED_WORLD was likely the problem - this first possible fix gives a magic block that should help with improvement - it is possible the other option could be better - needs tested to find out (in this case, comment magic block out and uncomment the other block that is now WE_EQUIPPED). If anyone has had issues with performance and thinking it is due to magic shields, try this out and give us feedback please.

    Fixes for Jimmy and his quest, the New Magincia crew (Evie, Fred and Will), our Evil Mage (fix for the evil path), Charlotte of Greyhaven, Abelinda (fixed wrong schedule template names), Lenora (for Rune return and get again) and adding quest needed items for provisioners (anchors and fishing poles) as well as tweaked their pricing, and missing items from Nicodemus' shop (for magical staves and making possible doing enchanted staffs). Also a fix for the night clerks (yes, I hand edited to make sure their names and nametags all work). Tested (will be testing more and DD will test as well to make sure we have contingencies covered).

    fixes duplicate militia schedules! shad's schedule group manager was re-enabling the groups after they got disabled. this adds a flag check so that after they get caught, their schedules will no longer be reactivated.

    fix_shame will rewire the elevator in shame if it gets broken. however, i believe it may get rewired WRONG in which case it does some REALLY WEIRD THINGS. but at least it's usable!! i may have to tune that - maybe detect whether it was lost at the top or the bottom or something like that.

    fix_ybarra will entirely skip ybarra in the plot if the elevator turns out to be irreparable. at least it's something.

    MAY fix the clicking through backpack problem. May also break everything. I have tested the basics - moving items to and from the pack. My concern is about the icons at the top and other important pieces of functionality that I might have forgotten about. Needs a LOT of testing; the good news is that the pack is constantly used by everyone, so it's easy to get people to test it. :)

  • Lorebooks broke in existing saved games because DS wasn't recognizing some of the new logic, but worked correctly in new games. This change fixes the issue with saved games not working correctly and still keeps new games working correctly.

  • disable the orb gizmos at the shrines of Control, Passion, and Diligence. This is necessary because we seem to be hitting the limit on active frustums and had to cut some. Hopefully this will reduce the number of corrupt moongates.

    Fixed enchanted staffs (specialize was changed and broke them all :( - they need to be base_staff so that the usecode block can work for enchanting), also added the non-enchanted ones to Nicodemus' shop), updated the market pricing, also updated Nicodemus' convo so he doesn't say he's out of them. (all tested and every enchanted staff works - yay!)

    for testing. this fixes the hanging at the end of the evil path. however, it is a bit less pretty, and shows compass briefly at the end of the sequence. i wanted to test this in retail to see if the end-of-game would work; in dsmod you get errors which can be ignored, but it seems to work. unfortunately for some reason i can't figure out how to test that. anyway, could someone test this in retail please?

  • another slight tweak to the issue with respawning npcs after they have died. Removed the check at the top of britannia_actor because the local_schedule_starter and schedule weren't actually checking for a dead npc correctly. Tested again with provided saved game and it worked. Now the NPC won't actually respawn, so it won't need to be deleted during it's initialization.

  • updating schedule system to not respawn when dead. Tested with saved game from Sslaxx and it looks good.
    This change updates the schedule starters, the schedule component, and britannia actor. If britannia actor inits and the npc should be dead or removed, it gets deleted automatically. The schedule starters and schedule changes didn't seem to make a difference in a saved game...probably ds caching.

  • modified the lorebook tip to fire once the player tries to read the lorebook for the first time instead of on pickup. What was happening was that the tip was firing and the lorebook was getting lost in the void. Now, when they try to read it, it will fire the tip and then display the lorebook once they are done.

    last ditch effort for Fixing Sherry for those saved games where Sherry died a long time ago.

    Type: FIX SHERRY
    in the console (you don't need to be in debug mode).

    This will check to see if Sherry is dead, and if so, will spawn a new copy of her and launch her convo to allow you to ask her to join again.

  • modified teleport sequence to try to delete the frustum of dead party members when they are teleported to the resurrection location. I believe that we may have extra frustum hanging around... this really needs to be tested (try lots of orbing and lots of resurrecting)
  • updated local schedule starters to be aware of when an NPC is resurrected. Prior to this, if a pm dies and is resurrected, but then told to leave the party and resume their schedule, they would never appear since the schedule thought they were still dead

    somehow i removed the code that notifies the next SCID - that code has been replaced. this SHOULD fix the balloon

    I've done testing on this with new games, Duddley has tested new and with saved (before meeting her) and I have a 3rd testing now too. All looks good so far.

    Wrapping logic that launches conversations into SafeToLaunchModal checks. Please test out the Trinsic rope sequence and see if this fixes it.

    Probably fixes super-speed problem after ladder manager. tested - would like additional testing to be done before we release, especially with NIS, Cove sequence, etc. This problem seemed to occur most frequently at the Trinsic rope, so I'd like to make sure that gets tested as well.

  • updated LB's resurrect logic to clear the global flags that indicate that a party member is dead so that it matches the resurrect spell.

  • adding in a check to see if the player has a dead body of Sherry or Beh Lem. If they do, then try to flip the auto-expiration flag on the associated goid if it still exists so DS doesn't delete it. If DS has already deleted it, then I'm not quite sure what we can do at that point.

  • updating Beh Lem and Sherry base templates to auto_expiration_class = never.
  • Updated Britannia Player to remove auto_expiration when a character dies
    All human party members are already set up to never expire. It appears that Beh Lem and Sherry were getting garbage collected by DS before the player could make it back to LB. This is just a theory, but could someone test out Sherry dying again to make sure she can still be resurrected. Ideally, kill her off a ways away from the castle and then wait about 15 minutes before talking to LB. I'll test it out in the morning if I don't hear anything.

    in theory this should fix the "fade to black" problem in ladder managers. this suppresses dialogs during teleport - that flag check wasn't in the ladder manager, and now it is!!

    Updated Sherry and Beh Lem templates to classify them as "human" as seen by DS. I'm not really seeing any issues with this, but it needs to be fully tested and any oddness reported. This should help with some of the Sherry/Beh Lem issues with teleportation/resurrection/exhaustion.

    shad suggested a really simple way to do this. MUCH simpler and more efficient than looping through every item in world. implemented and tested fix.

  • patching framework for 1.0.1 in place. I've got it so that an omni gets launched on game restore if the current version number is 1.0. It then updates the version number to 1.0.1 and spawns an omni that currently does nothing except poll every 30 seconds. Once I have the info on what I'm looking for, it will attempt to update the gizmo and then expire.
    DO NOT MODIFY THE CORE TANKS, see if everything can be handled inside the patch file (map, npc, etc.).

    We'll modify the core tanks when we start working on 1.1. I would like our 1.0 core tanks as pristine as possible.
